Saudi Minister of Energy Meets Kenyan Counterpart
The Saudi Minister of Energy Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz met in Riyadh with Kenya’s Minister of Energy and Petroleum Davis Chirchir, reported Saudi Press Agency.
During the meeting, Abdulaziz and Chirchir discussed energy-related topics of mutual interest “Empowering Africa” initiative.
Empowering Africa Initiative
The Kingdom launched the initiative during the Middle East and North Africa Climate Week 2023.
This initiative aims to provide clean energy solutions, connectivity, e-health, and e-education.
Furthermore, the meeting reviewed opportunities for cooperation between the two countries and ways to enhance them in the fields of petroleum and its supplies, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The two ministers discussed exchanging of expertise in developing projects, policies, and systems.
Earlier Saudi-Kenyan Discussions
Last year, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a significant diplomatic engagement with Musalia Mudavadi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya.
This high-profile meeting took place at the Saudi house, an exclusive setting established on the fringes of the General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), held in the vibrant city of Paris, France.”
Kenya, Kingdom: Focus on Bilateral Ties
The agenda of their discussion was robust and multi-faceted, primarily focusing on the bilateral ties . Both ministers engaged in a thorough exploration of various strategies to further strengthen and expand these relations across multiple sectors.
Their dialogue reflected a shared commitment to forging deeper, more meaningful connections between the two nations.
Addressing Gaza Strip Situation
Another critical aspect of their conversation revolved around the complex and sensitive situation in and around the Gaza Strip.
Prince Faisal and Mr. Mudavadi, initially, discussed the conflict and subsequently the efforts for a lasting ceasefire. Moreover, they agreed on its critical role in protecting civilians caught in the crossfire.

In addition to these specific topics, the ministers exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest. These discussions were geared towards contributing to and reinforcing international peace and security, showcasing their dedication to global diplomatic responsibilities.
