Saudi Foreign Minister, Spanish Counterpart Discuss Gaza

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faisal bin Farhan, met with his Spanish counterpart, Jose Manuel Albares, on the sidelines of the Saudi Minister’s participation in the annual meeting of the European Council on Foreign Relations in the Spanish capital, Madrid.

They discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them in various fields. They also discussed developments on the regional and international arena, most notably the developments in the Gaza Strip and the efforts made towards them, reported Al Arabiya.

At the same time, the Saudi minister had a meeting with the UN Coordinator, where they discussed the importance of delivering adequate and sustainable humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, as well as the necessity of reaching a ceasefire to stop the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip.

Last April, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, welcomed Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, at the Royal Court at Al Salam Palace and discussed the situation in Gaza, according to Al Arabiya.

The two sides discussed the dangerous developments in Gaza and its surroundings, and the international efforts to stop the Israeli military operations.

They stressed the importance of the international community playing its role in pressuring Israel to stop its war on Gaza, abide by international laws, and allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza without delay..

Moreover, they tackled dealing with Israeli operations’ security and humanitarian repercussions, and advancing the peace process in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly as well as the Arab Peace Initiative. This initiative aims to finding a just and comprehensive solution and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
