Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon has caused unprecedented levels of human suffering, is pushing the region to the brink of a wider war, and undermines the credibility of international law and institutions.
He emphasized during his speech in the first session of the G20 summit, which was titled “Social Inclusion, Combating Hunger and Poverty,” the Kingdom’s firm position regarding “the need for an immediate ceasefire, the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid, the release of hostages, and a serious commitment to lasting peace based on the two-state solution according to the 1967 borders.”
In his speech, the Minister touched on the situation in Sudan, saying that the conflict there is causing great human suffering, especially in light of the obstacles preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need.
The Foreign Minister pointed out that the world is facing increasing tensions, military conflicts, and humanitarian crises, which hinder the achievement of development goals, including the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. He also noted that development and prosperity cannot be achieved on the ruins of death and destruction.
