The Saudi Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Film Commission, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, has on Wednesday inaugurated the second edition of the Saudi Film Confex, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Saudi Film Confex is taking place in Riyadh, from October 9-12, 2024, with the attendance of prominent producers, actors, experts and filmmakers from Saudi Arabia and worldwide.
Significant Event
In his speech, Prince Badr underscored the significance of the Saudi Film Confex as a further step towards enhancing creative content, and developing filmmaking infrastructure, from production to screening and distribution. This creates an integrated environment that strengthens film industry locally and globally.
Moreover, Prince Badr said that the Saudi Film Commission aims to establish a new phase of creativity and learning that fosters an integrated film industry which acts as a bridge for cultural and economic interaction with the world.
“We aspire to transform the Kingdom into a regional and international hub for film production, empowering local talent and opening new prospects for strategic partnerships to strengthen infrastructure, exhibition, and distribution sectors,” he noted.
Saudi Film Confex 2024
The first day of Saudi Film Confex 2024 featured rich panel discussions that explored the film industry and the sector’s crucial cultural and economic role.
Furthermore, the event has witnessed huge turnout and interaction at its 8 interactive spaces, including: The Business Hub; Consultation Platforms; On-Set Challenge; Film Talk; Junior Filmmaker; and Cinematic Arts.
The Saudi Film Confex also includes more than 35 events featuring 65 prominent speakers, 30 panel discussions, 15 specialized workshops, film discussions, and master classes on various aspects of the film industry.
The event is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia. It aims to empower and develop the Saudi film industry and promote investment and partnership opportunities, in line with the national cultural strategy under Vision 2030, which aspires to build a promising future for film industry and arts in the Kingdom.
