The Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, met on Wednesday with the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araghchi, in Riyadh, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
During the meeting, the Saudi Crown Prince and Iran’s Foreign Minister discussed bilateral relations. Furthermore, their talks explored the latest regional developments and efforts made towards addressing them.
The Saudi Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, attended the meeting, in addition to several Saudi senior officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah; and Minister of State, Cabinet Member, and National Security Adviser Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban.
The Iranian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alireza Enayati, and senior officials from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present at the meeting.
Araghchi has arrived to Riyadh earlier on Wednesday. He was received by the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan. Both officials explored bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them across various fields.
They also discussed the latest regional developments and efforts made to address them.
Araghchi’s visit to Saudi Arabia is part of a regional tour that aims to prevent a major military confrontation in the region, after the recent escalations that involved Israeli ground offensive in Lebanon, Iran’s missile attack on Israel, and the potential Israeli response.
