Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held a landmark meeting with Sudan’s Army Chief Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan on Monday at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in Sudan and the efforts made to achieve security and peace in the country.
The visit comes at a crucial time as peace attempts between Al-Burhan and his one-time deputy, Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, have repeatedly failed during the devastating war that has killed tens of thousands, displaced 12 million and left the world’s largest hunger and displacement crises.
The meeting witnessed the attendance of Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of State and National Security Advisor Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Finance Minister Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, along with Saudi Ambassador to Sudan Ali Hassan Jaafar.
Separate Meeting
In a separate meeting, US envoy for Africa Massad Boulos reviewed the bilateral relations and topics of mutual concern with Prince Khalid.
“During the meeting, we reviewed the bilateral relations between our countries and discussed recent developments, as well as our efforts to promote peace,” Prince Khalid said in a post on X.

Boulos also offered special thanks to Prince Khalid for a “fruitful and forward-looking discussion that advanced progress on the resolution of regional conflicts and shared priorities between allies.”
Saudi Efforts
Saudi Arabia has been intensifying its diplomatic initiatives to put an end to the war in Sudan by facilitating talks and providing humanitarian assistance.
In November, US President Donald Trump began to pay real attention to the Sudanese crisis after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman urged him to intervene and resolve the ongoing bloody conflict that tore the country apart. Trump then pledged to put an end to the war.
