Saudi Crown Prince Discusses Relations with Iraq’s National Wisdom Movement Chairman
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman welcomed Iraq’s National Wisdom Movement Chairman Ammar Al-Hakim on Tuesday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. They discussed bilateral relations.
Saudi foreign minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan attended the meeting as well.
Bin Farhan received a phone call last February from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Fuad Mohammed Hussein.
The two ministers discussed relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them. In addition, they reviewed regional and international developments and the efforts exerted in this regard.
Saudi Arabia and Iraq have been enhancing various areas of cooperation. Earlier this year, the Saudi Export-Import Bank announced that a bank delegation was having a series of intensive meetings with companies and financial institutions in Iraq, reported Al Arabiya. The meetings aimed to enhance and expand the Kingdom’s non-oil exports in the Iraqi markets.
The bank detailed on X platform that the delegation participating in the Baghdad International Fair was showcasing the bank’s financial and insurance products and services. These presentations took place from January 10-19, according to the Arab World News Agency.
Moreover, Saudi Arabia is accelerating steps to establish its first free economic zone with Iraq. This zone will be located at the Arar border area, as announced by Saudi Investment Minister Khalid al-Falih.
The Saudi Economic Cities Authority is evaluating the linking of border regions and free zones to neighboring countries.
Minister Al-Falih expressed hope for the free economic zone with Iraq to become the first tax-free economic zone.
