The mayor of Taif, Eng. Abdullah bin Khamis Al-Zaidi, has overseen the ongoing preparations for Taif Rose Festival 2024, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The highly-anticipated event will start its activities on Sunday, April 28, at Al Raddaf Park, in coordination with the Cooperative Association for Taif Roses.
Al-Zaidi was briefed on preparation efforts, including establishing the large rose carpet, preparing the entries and exits of the park, preparing the interactive fountain and improving the kids’ area.
The Taif mayor underscored the significance of the festival as one of the biggest events in Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the progress achieved to get the festival in its best light, praising the efforts of the municipality and all the relevant entities to organize Taif Rose Festival.
Al-Zaidi listened to a briefing from specialists on the ongoing work in the festival and its accompanying events; new designs for the rose and flower carpet; activities for families and kids; seedlings and bouquets of roses and flowers to be distributed to visitors.
He was also briefed on efforts to establish an agriculture reserve, an arboretum and a home garden model; and events and programs that will be held throughout the festival.
Eng. Al-Zaidi stressed the need to finish all preparations to receive the large number of visitors expected, enhance the organizational work to ensure the festival success, and effectively coordinate with all partners from the public and private sectors.
The Taif Rose, dubbed as “Sultan of flowers,” has long been a symbol of the city’s rich cultural heritage. Known for its breathtaking scent and beauty, Taif Rose has become a pillar of Taif’s tourism and trade sectors.
Taif, known as Saudi Arabia’s City of Roses, is the leading producer of these roses in the Kingdom, as its fertile lands yield a bounty of this exquisite flower all year round.
