Saudi Arabia on Thursday delivered the 4th installment of the financial support to the State of Palestine in 2024, worth $10mn, in a move further underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people.
This fourth installment brings the total financial aid provided by Saudi Arabia to Palestine throughout 2024 to $40mn, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Palestinian Minister of Finance, Omar Al-Bitar, received the fourth installment of the Saudi financial support at the Saudi embassy headquarters in Jordan, during a meeting with the Saudi Non-resident Ambassador to Palestine and Consul-General in Jerusalem, Naif Al-Sudairi.
On this occasion, Al-Bitar appreciated Saudi Arabia’s steadfast historic position on Palestine, and its support for Palestine’s legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent Palestine state.
Furthermore, he conveyed the greetings of the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, and Prime Minister, Muhammad Mustafa, to Saudi Arabia and its leadership for their continued political, economic and humanitarian support.
Al-Bitar also emphasized the significant role of Saudi Arabia’s aid in mitigating the financial crisis in Palestine, resulting from the recent Israeli policies.
On his part, Ambassador Al-Sudairi stressed the Kingdom’s firm commitment to supporting the rights of the Palestinian people. He noted that over the past years, Saudi Arabia has provided continued financial support to the Palestinian people, reaching $5.3bn. This support took the form of humanitarian, relief and development aid to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians in the face of economic and humanitarian challenges.
The Saudi aid was allocated to vital sectors, such as health and education, to cover the costs of hospitals and medical supplies and equipment, in addition to the salaries of the medical staff and teachers, and school expenses.
