Saudi Arabia concluded its involvement in the 26th World Energy Conference in Rotterdam, Netherlands from April 22 to 25, 2024. The conference addressed various energy issues and emphasized the necessity of managing transformations fairly, equitably, and sustainably.
The Kingdom had the largest private pavilion at the conference’s exhibition, themed ‘Sustainable Energy – A Shared Future,’ featuring 22 government and private entities. It showcased national programs and initiatives aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.
The Kingdom’s efforts also amid global energy sector changes and its commitment to combating climate change.
Moreover, the Saudi pavilion hosted 33 sessions that addressed the Kingdom’s efforts to develop clean energy sectors, through the National Renewable Energy Program, the Optimal Energy Mix Program, which aims to raise the share of renewable energy in electricity production to 50% by 2030.
In conclusion, the pavilion showcased Saudi Green Initiative, the Kingdom’s plan for achieving zero neutrality by 2060 or earlier with emissions reduction by 278 million tons yearly by 2030. It also highlighted Green Middle East Initiative, led by the Kingdom, aiming for regional climate cooperation.
