Saudi Arabia works to consolidate the values of dialogue & coexistence: Prince Turki Al-Faisal
His Royal Highness Prince Turki Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, affirmed that the Kingdom is working to consolidate the values of dialogue, coexistence, tolerance, moderation and that it believes in the importance of dialogue among followers of cultures, religions, civilizations, and peoples.
This came during a meeting organized by Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University represented by the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Center for Contemporary Islamic Studies and Dialogue of Civilizations, entitled “Cultural Diplomacy and Global Peacemaking, A Saudi Vision” in the presence of some ambassadors, diplomats, members of the university council, professors, male and female students, and several interested students.
His Highness promised human values the essence of culture, indicating that culture occupies a large space of importance for its ability to face the challenges posed by the globalization of culture and its variables, and because of its link with the personality and status of the state. He also pointed out that culture in its broad sense is the material and intangible heritage of peoples. It is a dynamic system that adapts and develops according to the developments of human society.
His Highness indicated that the human values rooted in the national culture such as the values of tolerance, moderation, and justice. “The human rights are derived from the human values that many cultures share, so world peace will not be achieved without realizing these common values around the globe”, He said.
He also pointed out that the Kingdom’s diplomacy has always been, as throughout history, expressive of the values of Humanity to remain a contributor and supporter of human progress and to highlight its image and original values.
“Culture, with all its components, is one of the sources of the state’s strength in addition to other sources. The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 has attached utmost importance to the cultural aspect, the projects, activities, and events that have been accomplished in this regard deserve pride, as it enhances our belonging, national identity, and culture.” His Highness added.
Prince Turki Al-Faisal demanded that universities, academic and intellectual institutions, teachers, intellectuals, media professionals, diplomats, and officials should bear their responsibilities in presenting and promoting authentic values and cultures and that it be a source of national strength, and present the image as it should be in words and behavior.
