Saudi Arabia to Host 15th ICAN Conference

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, will host the 15th International Conference on Air Services Negotiations (ICAN Conference2023) tomorrow. This event, affiliated with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), will be held in Riyadh from December 3 to 7.

It will feature participation from over 100 countries, international organizations, and more than 700 civil aviation experts.

Royal Support for Air Transport

The Kingdom’s hosting of the ICAN conference comes amid the unlimited support from the King and the Crown Prince for the air transport sector.

Furthermore, it underscores Saudi Arabia’s leading role in developing and enhancing the air transport industry, focusing on achieving highest levels of safety, security, and keeping pace with rapid advancements.

Objectives of ICAN2023

 

ICAN2023, the largest international event of its kind, aims to keep up with the rapid development in the global air transport industry. The conference facilitates bilateral and multilateral negotiations and consultations on air services.

Furthermore, it aims to improve air transport services and establish connections between regulatory bodies, operators, and service providers.

Inauguration and International Participation

 

The conference will open with significant international participation. Attendees will include the Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics and Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, along with heads of civil aviation authorities from various participating countries.

The event will also feature an award ceremony hosted by the General Authority of Civil Aviation. The event will conclude on December 7, 2023, coinciding with the International Civil Aviation Day.

ICAN 2023 as a Global Platform

 

ICAN 2023 serves as a global platform for air transport negotiations. Moreover, it showcases investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia through the National Aviation Strategy. This strategy aims to position Saudi civil aviation as the leading sector in the Middle East by 2023. It aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2023 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.

They aim to increase air connectivity from 99 to over 250 destinations across 29 airports. They also aim to triple the annual passenger traffic to 330 million, establish two global air connectivity hubs, and increase air cargo capacity to 4.5 million tons.
