The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) announced that construction is advancing on two new bridges running parallel to the Wadi Laban Suspension Bridge in western Riyadh, according to the Saudi Gazette.
As part of the Main and Ring Road Axes Development Program, the project seeks to ease traffic flow and expand capacity along a key corridor that serves over 400,000 vehicles daily.
The RCRC revealed that construction has reached 28% completion on the project, which features two parallel bridges. Interestingly, each bridge will be 763 meters long and will rise between 161 and 175 meters in height.
The design relies on four main pillars, while engineers are using advanced construction techniques to meet the highest technical and operational standards.
Construction teams also deploy specialized equipment and advanced technologies, supported by integrated operational traffic management plans that maintain uninterrupted traffic flow around the project site.
The commission noted that teams carry out strict safety and quality procedures throughout all phases of execution and maintain continuous coordination between engineering, operational, and field units.
Once completed, the project will reduce travel times by up to 75% and enhance the corridor’s capacity by 82%.
It will also strengthen connectivity between western Riyadh and key transport axes and foster mobility across a more efficient and sustainable urban transport system.
