Saudi Arabia: Region Cannot Tolerate More Conflicts

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reiterated its opinion regarding the recent tensions between Israel and Iran, that the region cannot tolerate more conflicts, stressing that pacification is a priority. Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan explained that a ceasefire in Gaza, which has been besieged for months due to the Israeli war, has become a necessity.

On Tuesday, he stressed the importance of making more efforts to put an end to the suffering of the people of Gaza, noting that international efforts for a ceasefire are completely insufficient.

He added in a press conference with his Pakistani counterpart that the region cannot tolerate more conflicts and stressed that pacification is a priority, in reference to the recent tension witnessed in recent weeks following the Israeli targeting of the Iranian consulate in Syria, and the Iranian response with missile strikes on the heart of Israel last Saturday.

This came after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed, last Saturday, the Kingdom’s deep concern over the developments of the military escalation in the region and the seriousness of its repercussions. It called on all parties to exercise the utmost levels of restraint and spare the region and its peoples the dangers of war.

After a suspected Israeli strike on Iranian consular building in Syria on April 1, which killed seven Iranian officers including two senior commanders, Tehran vowed revenge, putting Israel and the US on high alert.

On Saturday, Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles towards Israel in an immense aerial attack. After reports of the attack, Israel closed its airspace, and so did Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon. By Sunday morning, Israel and Jordan reopened their airspace.
