Saudi Arabia Launches Industrial Beacons Program: A Leap into Future of Manufacturing

Saudi Arabia has taken a significant step towards industrial modernization with the launch of the “Industrial Beacons” program. Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar AlKhorayef and Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Alibrahim unveiled the initiative. The program aims to empower leading national factories by adopting Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies. It focuses on improving production efficiency and preparing factories for global recognition within the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Lighthouse Network.

Advancing Digital Transformation

AlKhorayef emphasized the program as a strategic initiative under Saudi Vision 2030. It seeks to promote digital transformation in Saudi manufacturing. By embracing advanced technologies, local factories will achieve operational excellence and sustainability. This initiative also positions them as global leaders in advanced manufacturing.

Goals for Global Recognition

The ministry aims to have 14 factories recognized as global industrial beacons by 2030. This aligns with efforts to implement smart manufacturing solutions through the Future Factories Initiative. The Industrial Beacons program will evaluate 50 national factories in its first phase, helping them prepare transformation plans to gain WEF recognition.

Industry Leaders Share Insights

During the launch ceremony, a panel discussion focused on the journey towards WEF recognition. Saudi Aramco’s director of digital strategy, Mashal Al-Mishari, and Bosch Middle East’s general manager, Per Johansson, shared success stories and challenges from their own transformations.

Significant Attendance at the Ceremony

The event was attended by Saudi Industrial Development Fund Chief Executive, Prince Sultan bin Khalid bin Faisal, along with senior officials. The WEF’s Global Lighthouse Network currently includes 153 factories recognized for their leadership in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
