Saudi Arabia launches Dareen Poetry Festival with the participation of 60 Gulf poets
The Eastern Region Literary Club launched the activities of the Dareen Poetry Festival in its fourth edition.
Sixty poets from the Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council participated in it, in the Princess Sahab bint Abdullah Hall at the club’s headquarters in Dammam.
Muhammad Bodi, Assistant Secretary of the Union of Arab Writers, noted during his opening speech that this festival is almost the sole poetry festival in our Saudi cultural scene right now.
He added that this fourth edition contains six poetry sessions in every three sessions, with the participation of 60 poets from the Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
Boodai stressed that “this edition of the festival witnessed the honoring of three national cultural figures who contributed to supporting the literary movement”.
Among the attendees of that festival are Dr. Ali bin Abdulaziz Al-Khudairi, founder and director of the Holy Quran Radio, and writer Dr. Abdullah Dahlan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Business and Technology in Jeddah.
For his part, the writer Abdulaziz bin Hassan Al-Jabr praised the efforts made at the Dareen Poetry Festival in its fourth edition to support culture and literature.
Dr. Ali bin Abdulaziz Al-Khudairi thanked the Eastern Province Literary Club for this honor, as well as the club’s efforts in renaissance with cultural and literary knowledge.
The festival’s activities witnessed various poetic participation by some poets, while everyone participated with the popular band in the art of “Al-Ardah”.
