Saudi Arabia and the European Union (EU) have explored ways to enhance coordination and joint cooperation across various fields, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
On Sunday, the Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member, and Climate Envoy, Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, met with members of the EU’s Political and Security Committee (PSC) in Riyadh. The EU delegation was led by the PSC Chair, Delphine Pronk.
During the meeting, Al-Jubeir reviewed Saudi Arabia’s foreign policy and positions on various regional and international issues. Furthermore, he highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to strengthen regional and international peace and security.
The meeting also explored ways to enhance cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the EU across all fields, including environment and climate change.
Several Saudi and European officials attended the meeting, including the EU Special Representative for the Gulf region, Luigi Di Maio; the Saudi Ambassador to the EU and the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom), Haifa bint Abdurrahman Al-Jedea; and the EU Ambassador to the Kingdom, Christophe Farnaud.
Separately, the EU delegation met on Sunday with the Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister, Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji, in Riyadh. During their meeting, both sides explored relations between the Kingdom and the EU and ways to bolster joint cooperation and coordination across various fields.
Moreover, they discussed the efforts of Saudi Arabia and the EU towards resolving regional and global conflicts.
The Saudi Ambassador to the EU and the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom), Haifa bint Abdurrahman Al-Jedea, attended the meeting, alongside the EU Managing Director for Middle East and North Africa, Helen Le Gal, and the Head of EU Department at the Saudi Foreign Ministry, Talal Alenazi.
