Saudi Arabia Calls for Global Action on Health at Geneva Meeting
During the World Health Assembly’s opening speech, Saudi Arabia emphasized the need for ongoing efforts and enhanced international cooperation to address future health risks. Saudi Arabia’s ultimate aim is “Health for All” for global well-being.
The Kingdom noted the need to find long-term solutions to address the gaps in global pandemic preparedness and response procedures.
The Kingdom pointed to the efforts made to amend the International Health Regulations, negotiations to draft an epidemic treaty, and the need to strengthen international action to deal with any future health risks, in order to achieve the goal of “health for all.”
Saudi Arabia aims to respond to antimicrobial threats, anticipating the upcoming United Nations declaration in this regard. It will host the fourth high-level ministerial conference on antimicrobial resistance in Jeddah on November 15-16 this year.
The Kingdom also confirmed that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has entered its eighth month. Moreover, the horrific Israeli violations are still continuing and the number of victims are approaching forty thousand, the majority of whom are children, women and the elderly, in addition to a serious deterioration in health services.
