Saudi Arabia, China Enhance Air Connectivity
A strategic partnership has been established to strengthen the air links between Saudi Arabia and China. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Air Connectivity Program and China Southern Airlines.
Launch of New Air Route
In a significant move, a new air route is being introduced. It will connect Beijing, China’s bustling capital, to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s vibrant heart. The first flight is eagerly awaited in April 2024. This route will see two flights weekly, bridging Beijing Daxing International Airport with King Khalid International Airport. Furthermore, starting June 2024, Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport will join this network. Two flights per week will also head to King Khalid International Airport, aboard the spacious A330-300.
Catering to Growing Travel Needs
This partnership is a timely response to the surging demand for air travel between these nations. It aims to ramp up capacity and satisfy the appetite for direct flights. The initiative builds on the recent expansion of airline services. It involves both Saudi and Chinese airports, thanks to efforts by Saudi Airlines and Hainan Airlines.
Executive Insights
Majid Khan, leading the Air Connectivity Program, shared his excitement. He welcomed China Southern Airlines, a global aviation leader, into the Saudi market. Khan emphasized the goal of enhancing direct links between Saudi Arabia and China. This move aims to invite Chinese tourists to discover the Kingdom’s deep-rooted history and rich culture.
Al Hassan Al Dabbagh, of the Saudi Tourism Authority, also weighed in. He underlined how this partnership would improve access to the Asian market. It seeks to attract more tourists from the People’s Republic of China. Dabbagh praised Saudi Arabia’s diverse environments, cultural richness, and renowned hospitality.
Strategic Vision
This collaboration aligns with the visionary goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The Kingdom aims to become an aviation leader in the Middle East. It wants to serve as a crucial link between the East and the West. Remarkably, in 2023, Saudi Arabia welcomed 100 million tourists, including 27 million from abroad.
