SASO Inaugurates Laboratory Building in Makkah

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) inaugurated its new laboratory building at the Jeddah Islamic Port in Makkah, reported News 24.

Opening this laboratory building, the organization aims to elevate the quality infrastructure in the Kingdom, contribute to facilitating the access of products to markets, and enhance the quality of the services provided.

The Governor of SASO Saad Al-Qasabi highlighted the significant role of these laboratories in providing technical support and specialized expertise to public and private sectors.

Moreover, he affirmed that they will play a vital role in supporting scientific studies and research thanks to their advanced technologies in various fields.

The Saudi Standards have a sophisticated technical system comprising 26 specialized laboratories.

These laboratories conducted more than 33.9 thousand tests in 2023, benefiting 287 establishments from various sectors.

World Research Council Meeting

 

The Council of Governors of the World Research Council unanimously agreed, in its meeting held Wednesday, that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be the main host for the annual meeting in 2025 in Riyadh city, reported Saudi Press Agency.

The Republic of Turkey, represented by the Scientific and Technological Research Council, will be a partner host.

This will be the first time for the World Research Council to be hosted in the MENA region since its establishment in 2012.

This reflects the Kingdom’s esteemed status in the fields of research, development, and innovation at the regional and global levels.

The joint bid succeeded due to its inclusion of key competitive elements. These elements include proposing modern topics that align with global scientific movements and match the Kingdom’s ambitious aspirations.

The Council’s annual meetings represent one of the largest global forums for member research councils supporting scientific research worldwide. These meetings discuss topics of mutual interest and adopt principles that reflect the member research councils’ viewpoints. Moreover, it ratifies recommendations related to follow-up activities carried out by the member research councils in the World Research Council.
