Riyadh International Book Fair 2023 Ends
The Riyadh International Book Fair 2023, organized by the Saudi Authority for Literature, Publishing and Translation, concluded its activities. The book fair which lasted for 10 days was held at the new headquarters of King Saud University in Riyadh.
The book fair aims to celebrate Saudi Arabia’s rich literary heritage and promote the love of reading among its visitors.
Chinese participation
During the book fair, Chinese publishing houses participated extensively in the exhibition, and a number of distinct Chinese-themed books were brought out to readers from Arab countries.
A number of Chinese-Saudi and Chinese-Arab cultural exchanges have also been held, injecting new momentum into strengthening cooperation in the field of Chinese-Arab publishing and promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.
As a sales agent for the book “Xi Jinping: Governance of China ” in the Arab region, Ahmed Saeed, General Manager of Beit Al Hakma Cultural Industries Group, Egypt, said: “Many readers hope to understand more comprehensively, dynamically and triangularly the achievements of contemporary development in China by reading this book.”
During the book fair, the Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) said: “In the past 10 years, China has witnessed great development, allowing the world to see the unique advantages of China’s governance model.”
Silk Road Library
Also during the book fair, the “Silk Road Library·” Chinese Bookshelf”, donated by Sinopec to King Saud University, comprising more than 1,000 books covering the economy and society, history and culture, literature and art, science and technology in China. In addition, Chinese language teaching, was inaugurated.
Vice-Chancellor of King Saud University, said these wonderful Chinese books will enrich Chinese language teaching and Chinese research materials at the university and help the Saudi people learn more about China.
Arabs and China are models of intercultural exchange and dialogue
Abdullah Al Kaabi, President of the Federation of Emirati Publishers, said that the copyright trade in Arabic-Chinese books has undergone a strong development in recent years.
Chinese writers are popular among readers in Arab countries. China’s experience provides a useful reference for the development of the publishing industry in Arab countries.
Al Kaabi hopes that the parties will continue to strengthen cooperation and exchanges in the field of dissemination and play a greater role in promoting exchanges and mutual learning between Arab and Chinese civilizations.
