RCU Considers Establishing Museums in AlUla

The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) is currently considering establishing several museums in AlUla Governorate, the Executive Director of Arts and Creative Industries at the Royal Commission for AlUla Nora Aldabal revealed to Al Arabiya.

RCU is also considering establishing a group of tourist centers and historical destinations as part of the master plan developed by the Commission.

Aldabal added that there are a number of distinguished museums in Saudi Arabia that are operated by the private sector. Although they play an important role in introducing the Kingdom and its cultural and social heritage, this is not the ambition.

The ministry of culture is keen on unifying efforts between the public and private sectors to establish, operate and develop a number of museums and their related specializations and fields within Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia’s  Museums Commission organized an international conference on education and innovation in museums in Riyadh, reported Akhbaar24.

The three-day conference discussed developing opportunities for the sector and highlighted its developments and the latest technologies and innovations used in it.

The conference, which took place in Prince Sultan Grand Hall in the Al Faisaliah Tower, attracted a large number of experts and those interested in this sector locally and regionally.

This is the first conference on the development of museums, which provides an opportunity to meet international figures interested in the sector and search for changes in it, researcher in strategic affairs Fawaz Al-Anazi told Akhbaar 24.
