Qatar Emir wears Saudi flag to show support in the Argentina match

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, was keen to wear a scarf referring to the flag of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the match between Saudi Arabia and Argentina, to support the Saudi National team in its critical match against Argentina, at the start of the team’s journey in the group stage of the World Cup.

The Argentine star, Lionel Messi, scored the first goal of the Argentine national team against the Saudi national team. A free kick in the first round of the third group of the 2022 World Cup improved the result. The tournament will be held in Qatar through December 18.

Messi scored his seventh goal in the World Cup in the ninth minute from a penalty kick, which he placed to the left of Muhammad Lawais. The referee counted it after returning the ball.

Saudi Arabia is participating in the World Cup for the sixth time in history. In 1994, she participated in the US edition for the first time.

As for the Argentine national team, it participates for the 18th time and has previously won this tournament twice, in 1978 and 1986.

Argentina has advanced past the first round 12 times during its last 13 participations in the World Cup, and the only exception was in 2022.
