Princess Samira bint Abdullah Al Faisal Wins Princess Nourah Award for social work
Princess Samira bint Abdullah Al Faisal Al Farhan Al Saud, Chair of the Saudi Schizophrenia Association “Ehtwaa,” has won the Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman Award for Women’s Excellence in the field of social work for 1447 AH (2026).
The award recognizes her pioneering career in leadership and volunteer work, spanning more than 25 years of impactful contributions.
She has played a key role in establishing several centers and associations dedicated to serving people with disabilities, in addition to founding the Saudi Schizophrenia Association “Ehtwaa,” the first of its kind in the Arab world to provide support and care for individuals with schizophrenia.
The awards ceremony for the eighth edition of the Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman Award for Women’s Excellence was held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and attended by his spouse, Princess Fahda bint Falah Al Hathleen, at the Conference and Seminar Center of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University on Tuesday evening.
The Annual Event
The award is an annual event held under the umbrella of the university by a Council of Ministers decision, aimed at highlighting the achievements of Saudi women and showcasing distinguished and creative figures across various fields.
It covers six main categories that combine theoretical and applied disciplines: health sciences, humanities, social work, natural sciences, economic projects, and the arts.
The eighth edition saw strong participation, with 515 applicants from across the Kingdom, reflecting growing public awareness of the award and its expanding impact.
This edition also featured enhanced judging and evaluation mechanisms aligned with the highest standards of transparency, alongside updates to the award’s overall framework in line with national and global developments.
Its themes focused on key national priorities tied to Saudi Arabia’s development landscape and global trends, including preventive healthcare, green supply chains, local manufacturing, social and cultural transformation, support for people with disabilities, and the preservation of national heritage.
The award is considered one of the Kingdom’s leading national initiatives celebrating the achievements of Saudi women, contributing to their empowerment and strengthening their role as active partners in sustainable development, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
