Saudi Arabia Hits Record Life Expectancy of 79.9 Years Through Health Revolution

Saudi Arabia has achieved a historic milestone in public health as life expectancy reached 79.9 years by the end of 2025. This figure represents a significant jump from the 74 years recorded in 2016, according to the Health Sector Transformation Program. In conjunction with World Health Day, officials confirmed that this qualitative leap directly reflects the rapid expansion of the Kingdom’s medical research infrastructure.

The Health Sector Transformation Program announced that clinical trials grew by a staggering 51.4% between 2023 and 2025. Consequently, the average time to initiate these trials dropped by 48%, which accelerated access to innovative and life-saving treatment solutions. This efficiency ensures that the impact of scientific research outputs reaches the Saudi population much faster than in previous decades.

A Growing Hub for Medical Investment

On the research front, the number of companies sponsoring clinical trials rose by 36% during this transformative period. Furthermore, the number of active trial sites reached 13, highlighting the Kingdom’s ability to attract high-quality international and local investments. These strategic partnerships strengthen the national healthcare ecosystem while positioning Saudi Arabia as a competitive leader in global scientific research.

Dr. Khalid Al-Shaibani, CEO of the Health Sector Transformation Program, stated that this growth reflects a regional hub for innovation. He emphasized that investment in science and research translates into immediate improvements in human health and overall quality of life. Ultimately, the Kingdom continues to prioritize the well-being of its citizens through world-class medical advancements and robust research frameworks.
