PIF, KACST Sign Memorandum of Cooperation in Construction

Signatories of Memorandum

The Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  to support research activities and innovations in the field of modern construction.

This includes the development of materials and the application of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in the construction and building sector.

Signatories of Memorandum

The memorandum was signed by Dr. Saeed bin Mohammed Al-Sahri, Vice President of the City for Energy and Industry Sector, and Musab Al-Khudairi, Head of the Center of the Public Investment Fund.

Objectives of Memorandum

The MoU aims to achieve integration between the city and the fund by enabling the fund, its affiliates and representatives to access the city’s research.

Additionally, It supports innovation in adopting modern construction research to innovate construction systems as alternatives to traditional construction methods.

Areas of Cooperation

Under the memorandum, both parties agreed to cooperate in promoting the adoption of various innovations in construction. This also includes wall systems, hybrid systems, and three-dimensional unit systems.

Development of Standards, Testing

Consequently, the parties will also collaborate on developing standards for measuring the capabilities and efficiency of proposed technologies compared to available technologies.
It will also provide recommendations according to the specifications and standards of the Saudi Building Code.

Finally, they will participate in scientific publishing, support scientific research, and attend conferences and seminars specialized in the construction and building field.
