The Oil Park Development Company, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund and the developer of THE RIG project, announced today the launch of the master plan.
This ambitious vision aims to redefine marine sports and adventure tourism. This initiative aligns with the Public Investment Fund’s strategy and Saudi Vision 2030. Its goal also is to contribute to the tourism sector’s growth, create job opportunities, attract investments, and diversify the economy.
Unique Hospitality, Adventure Experience
Raed Bakhurji, the company’s CEO, detailed the project’s scope. Specifically, the unique hospitality and adventure experience will span over 300,000 square meters. It is located 40 kilometers off the coast near Jareed Island and the Al-Bari oil field in the Arabian Gulf. Moreover, the project is expected to attract more than 900,000 visitors annually by 2032.
It aims to draw a broad spectrum of local, regional, and international tourists, including thrill-seekers, explorers, and those seeking balanced or relaxing vacations.
Diverse Tourist Offerings
THE RIG project will boast a wide array of tourist options, including accommodations, dining, and entertainment. This includes three hotels with a total of 800 rooms, 11 restaurants, an adventure and thrill sports park, a global marina, and helicopter landing pads. Visitors will enjoy various water activities, including a dedicated diving center, an amusement and water park, an electronic sports center, an interactive theater, and a multipurpose arena.
Design Inspired by Offshore Oil Platforms
Bakhurji emphasized that the project’s design draws inspiration from the concept of offshore oil platforms. Consequently, this concept celebrates Saudi Arabia’s rich heritage in the oil and gas sectors. Furthermore, it aims to create an exceptional and unique entertainment experience, positioning THE RIG as a must-visit global tourist destination.
