Iran wants to return relations with Saudi Arabia to the right track

Iran has renewed its desire for its relationship with Saudi Arabia to return to the right track, and to improve relations between the two countries.

 

the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, said that his country is determined to return relations with the Kingdom to the right track.

 

At the same time, he indicated that Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian will visit Iraq soon.

 

Kanaani stated to Mehr news saying, “We are willing to return the Iranian-Saudi relations to the right track, as this is in the interest of both countries.”

 

He added, “Iran has repeatedly announced that it welcomes the hand of friendship extended to it and the Iraqi endeavors in this context.

 

Kanaani stressed that it is ready to continue talks with the Saudi side and transfer them from the security level to the political level.

 

He reaffirmed that “the normalization of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia will certainly benefit bilateral relations and Iran welcomes any hand extended towards friendship.”

 

Saudi Arabia severed its Relation with Iran in 2016, after Iranian protesters stormed and burned Saudi diplomatic missions in Tehran.

Tehran and Riyadh held several negotiations under the auspices of the former Iraqi government during the reign of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi.

 

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman also announced that his country’s foreign minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, will visit Iraq soon.

 

Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiya said at the Munich Security Conference, “Efforts to bring Iran and Saudi Arabia closer together are continuing, and meetings between the two sides will resume soon.”
