NEOM has commenced the China leg of its global tour known as ‘Discover NEOM’, with different meetings and presentations in Beijing and Shanghai, in attendance of over 500 prominent pioneers in industry and business, according to NEOM.
The tour is a part of a greater roadshow, called ‘Discover NEOM’, set to attract the attention of the Chinese investors and companies to invest in NEOM, as one of the central goals of the tour that began in Beijing on April 15 and ended in Shanghai on April 17.
This event was organized in collaboration with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in Beijing and (CCPIT) in Shanghai.
The CEO of NEOM, Nadhmi Al-Nasr, has expressed his sincere appreciation to (CCPIT) in Beijing and (CCPIT) in Shanghai, saying: “We value supporting our visit to China and for the opportunity to present NEOM’s vision.”
The event included a group of showcases, highlighting the great progress and innovative breakthroughs achieved through the city’s economic sectors.
Furthermore, it laid the groundwork for wider Chinese investment in the region by engaging the leaders in a centered forum held to discuss the various opportunities in front of the Chinese construction companies.
More than 100 companies attended the forum and some of them expressed their desire to have investment projects in the city.
“To date, NEOM has already engaged with over 15 major Chinese businesses and invested in a number of Chinese startups to support the growth and diversification of NEOM,” Al-Nasr mentioned.
He also stressed on the central role of Chine in developing and expanding NEOM as he said: “Collaboration with China will continue to play a vital role in the development of NEOM and we look forward to strengthening our engagement with the country’s business community.”
Chairman of CCPIT Beijing, Guo Huaigang, stated that both NEOM and Beijing are cooperating and striving to accelerate the development of new modes of productivity, deepen comprehensive reforms, promote scientific and technological innovation, and ensure the protection of the environment.
“We look forward to the role our cooperation can have in Beijing’s future prosperity.” he added.
At the top of these events was a private showcase called ‘Discover NEOM: A New Future by Design’, which provided the attendees with a live experience to explore some of the most prominent landmarks of NEOM, such as The Line, the 170-kilometer-long city that will shape the future of urban living and Oxagon, that introduces a new meaning of the traditional industrial model.
Other landmarks included Trojena, the mountain resort of NEOM, and Sindalah, a luxury island destination under construction.
Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal Government, Zhao Zhuping, pointed out that Shanghai appreciates its relationships with Saudi Arabia as over the years they have engaged in extensive cooperation across trade, education, culture and more.
“We look forward to deepening mutually beneficial engagement with NEOM across infrastructure, renewable energy and technological innovation. The benefits and opportunities for this partnership will only continue to grow,” he confirmed.
