The National Center for Environmental Compliance (NCEC) has analyzed 11,742 environmental samples over the past seven months, including water and soil collected from multiple sites across the Kingdom.
NCEC Executive Director of Environmental Research and Studies, Dr. Qasem Al-Sharari, explained that the initiative reflects the center’s commitment to safeguarding the quality and safety of water, air, and soil in support of environmental sustainability. Additionally, the analyses play a crucial role in detecting violations, determining whether they qualify as environmental crimes, and providing evidence for legal rulings.
These environmental tests are designed to track pollutants and enhance the effectiveness of regulatory programs. By delivering precise, science-based data that meets international standards, they enable informed decision-making and contribute to maintaining a clean, pollutant-free environment.
Laboratory testing services form part of the 28 investment opportunities announced by the center in May 2025. Valued at an estimated SAR 39 billion ($10.4 billion), these opportunities span the localization of environmental industries, service provision, and technology development. Investments in environmental laboratories also align with the center’s ongoing privatization strategy for this vital sector.
