The Muslim World League (MWL) has launched one of the greatest water projects in Africa and the largest in Malawi, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The inauguration ceremony marked the presence of MWL Secretary-General Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Malawi’s First Lady Monica Chakwera, Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Sidik Mia, and several government and humanitarian officials.
Al-Issa stated that this exceptional project stands as a testament the high and good value of Islam in benefiting all human beings without discrimination.
To ensure sustainability, the project is operated by solar energy and serves six regions with storage units and pumps.
Malawi’s First Lady has commended the MWL’s unwavering efforts and support to complete the water project that ends the crisis of thousands of residents who find difficulty to obtain water.
Chakwera indicated that people in these regions are in dire need of a safe and sustainable source of clean water after their prolonged suffering from water scarcity and pollution, and their catastrophic impacts such as serious diseases and deaths, especially among children.
