The “Media Oasis” project, nominated by the Ministry of Media, has been selected to compete for the United Nations’ World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS 2024) Award. It falls under the Government Media category.
The “Media Oasis” project’s nomination, just a year after its 2023 launch, adds it to a list of over a thousand global contenders for the award.
This selection reflects the efforts of the Ministry of Media and its partners from both the public and private sectors. These sectors participated in the five editions of the Oasis, locally and internationally. It underscores the importance of collaborative work showcasing the achievements of the Kingdom’s major national transformation projects to the world.
Moreover, the “Media Oasis” project has gained global attention, coinciding with Saudi Arabia’s involvement in various global events and hosting international conferences.
The first edition of the Oasis coincided with the 32nd Arab Summit in Jeddah. The second edition took place alongside the Grand Annual Hajj Seminar from June 20th to 22nd, 2023.
Furthermore, the ministry organized the third edition of the “Media Oasis” in New Delhi from September 9th to 11th, 2023. This coincided with Saudi Arabia’s participation in the G20 Leaders’ Summit and the official visit of the Crown Prince to India.
Besides, the fourth edition was held in Diriyah, Riyadh, from November 9th to 11th, 2023. This coincided with Saudi Arabia hosting three summits: the Saudi-African Summit, the Extraordinary Arab Summit, and the Extraordinary Islamic Summit.
Additionally, the Ministry organized the fifth edition of the Oasis alongside Saudi Arabia’s participation in the 173rd General Assembly to select the host country for Expo 2030.
Through the “Media Oasis,” the Ministry of Media aims to provide a dedicated space for local and international media outlets and journalists. This space allows them to cover official events and major national projects amidst the Kingdom’s grand national initiatives and events.
In addition, the “Media Oasis” has attracted over 9,800 visitors from around the world across its five editions. It has also garnered coverage from more than 455 media outlets. Over 2,600 local and international journalists representing mote than 70 countries published over 440 news articles and media coverage. Additionally, more than 380 exhibitors representing over 65 government entities participated in the Oasis.
