Makkah Transport System Carries Over 31 Million Passengers in 1st Third of Ramadan

The transport system in Makkah served more than 31 million passengers during the first third of Ramadan 1447 AH, according to the General Transport Center in the holy capital. The figure includes beneficiaries of the shuttle transport service to the Grand Mosque and the Makkah bus network, which operate as part of efforts to organize traffic and facilitate the movement of residents, visitors, and Umrah performers traveling to the Grand Mosque.

The center reported that the shuttle service to and from the Grand Mosque alone handled over 31 million passengers through more than 700,000 trips, with more than 2,300 buses participating in operations. These services helped improve traffic flow in the central area and made it easier for worshippers to reach the Grand Mosque, especially during the peak periods of Ramadan.

This operational performance comes as authorities continue to coordinate closely to manage movement during the Ramadan season. The measures aim to accommodate the large crowds arriving in Makkah and ensure smoother mobility for both Umrah performers and residents of the city.
