Kuwait, UAE Intercept Iranian Drones in amid Regional Tensions

Kuwait’s military said it had detected and intercepted several hostile drones in the country’s airspace at dawn, marking the first such incident reported since a ceasefire in the Iran war took effect in April, according to Arab News.

The United Arab Emirates said its air defense systems intercepted and neutralized two drones launched from Iran on Sunday.

Three people were injured earlier this week after Emirati air defense systems intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles and three drones.

Kuwait had earlier reported intercepting Iranian missiles and drones during the war, including a wave of drones launched on April 8 that targeted some of the country’s infrastructure.

War in Iran

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran, targeting its leadership and triggering a new conflict in the Middle East.

Iran has been responding with a retaliatory counterattack in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi as a retaliatory move, while launching barrages of missiles and drones toward Israel.

The conflict has spread across the Middle East, leaving thousands dead, triggering unprecedented disruptions to energy supplies especially after the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

The adversaries remain locked in a standoff over the Strait of Hormuz, as Iran tightens its control over maritime traffic while the United States continues to enforce a blockade on Iranian ports.
