KSrelief’s Zakat Al-Fitr Provides Food for over 800,000 People

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has provided food aid for more than 800,000 people in Somalia, Yemen and Syria, under its Zakat al-Fitr project for the Hijri year 1445.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), KSrelief distributed 40,920 bags of rice, each weighing 20 kg, benefiting 245,520 individuals in Somalia.

In Yemen, it distributed 31,333 bags of rice, each weighing 20 kg, benefiting 219,331 individuals.

In Syria, KSrelief distributed 62,250 bags of wheat, each weighing 25 kg, benefiting 373,500 individuals.

Zakat al-Fitr is an obligatory charitable donation of food to the people in need that must be given at the end of Ramadan and before the Eid al-Fitr prayer.

As part of its ongoing efforts in Yemen, KSrelief’s mobile medical clinics provided treatment services to 1,255 beneficiaries during February in Hajjah Governorate.

Meanwhile, the Center continued implementing the Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation Project in Al-Hudaydah Governorate, by pumping 2,639,000 liters of potable water and 2,581,000 liters of usable water during February.

KSrelief is part of Saudi Arabia’s persistent efforts to alleviate the suffering of crisis-afflicted communities and people in need in many countries around the world through providing various forms of relief and humanitarian assistance.

Since its establishment in 2015, KSrelief has reached 98 countries, implementing 2,829 humanitarian and relief projects worth more than $6 billion, in cooperation with 175 local, regional and international partners.

These projects focus on vital sectors such as food, education, health, nutrition, water, environmental sanitation, and shelter, benefiting millions of people in need in target countries without discrimination.

According to KSrelief’s statistics, the greatest part of its support has gone to Yemen ($4.3 billion), Syria ($391 million), Palestine ($370 million), and Somalia ($227 million), with food security and health accounting for the majority of its projects.
