KSrelief Showcases Commitment to SDGs in UN High-Level Political Forum in New York
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) participated in the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) held in New York from July 8 to 18, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Represented by the Director of Community Support Dr. Jawaher bint Abdullah Al-Muhanna, the Saudi delegation participated in a session themed “From Vision to Impact: Compatibility for Sustainable Impact in Amplifying Social-Environmental Change.”
During the session, Al-Muhanna reviewed KSrelief’s efforts to achieve the Saudi Vision 2030 and its pursuit to be a key player in fulfilling the sustainable development goals, as follows:
Goal 1: No Poverty
KSrelief provided $77 billion in aid through 335 projects to alleviate poverty.
Goal 2: No Hunger
The center also provided $2.1 billion to eliminate hunger through 792 projects.
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being
$1.2 billion was provided for good health and well-being.
Goal 4: Education Goal
The center spent $162 million for quality education.
Goal 14: “Life Below Water” Goal
The center provided $18 million to alleviate the effects of natural disasters.
For example, the center addressed the risks of the oil spill from the “Safer” tanker anchored off the coast of the Red Sea.

Goal 17: Signing Partnerships
KSrelief allocated $5.7 billion to 92 low- and middle-income countries to establish partnerships with international organizations and civil society institutions.
At the end of her speech, Al-Muhanna suggested the adoption of a comprehensive approach that takes into consideration the points of strength and challenges to achieve the sustainable development goals.
Furthermore, she stressed the necessity to transform needy communities into self-reliant ones.
