The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has demonstrated its initiatives and accomplishments at the 2024 Islamic Development Bank Group Annual Meetings in Riyadh, which ended on Tuesday, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
KSrelief participated at the exhibition with a large pavilion showcasing its relief and humanitarian initiatives that extended to 98 countries in collaboration with 175 international, regional, and local partners.
The initiatives involve a vast array of sectors for instance, health, education, food security, shelter, environment, sanitation, and humanitarian operations coordination.
Furthermore, the pavilion underscored the organization’s commitment to implement certain specialized programs including the Masam project for demining in Yemen, the Child Soldiers Rehabilitation Project, and the Prosthetic Limb Program.
On Tuesday, KSrelief Supervisor General Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah met with Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The meeting focused on the possible mechanisms to enhance the bilateral cooperation and coordination to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable individuals around the world.
Both entities have a long history of cooperative relationships and collaborative charitable work. In December 2023, KSrelief and IsDB signed a joint program agreement to implement voluntary medical programs outside Saudi Arabia.
The program included a charitable project aimed at fighting blindness and eye diseases in KSrelief member states and countries.
Currently, the center is expanding its volunteer programs to ensure high levels of efficiency. KSrelief launched its 25th volunteer program yesterday in the Zaatari refugee camp for Syrian refugees, in Jordan, which deploys 29 volunteers specializing in medical, psychological, social, and educational fields to directly assist the camp’s residents.
