KSrelief Expands Food Security Support in Afghanistan
Yesterday, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief (KSrelief ) Center distributed 400 food baskets in Afghanistan. It benefited 2,400 individuals, including 400 families, as part of a project to support Food Security Support in Afghanistan.
This comes within the framework of humanitarian projects presented by KSA, to support food security in countries in need around the world.
Food Security in Afghanistan
Food security in Afghanistan has been a pressing issue for many years. The country has been facing high levels of food insecurity and malnutrition. The ongoing conflict, political instability, and economic challenges have all contributed to the food crisis in the country.
Accordingly, nearly 14 million people in Afghanistan are food insecure. This situation has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, this has led to a decrease in food production and a rise in food prices, making it difficult for many Afghans to afford a balanced diet.
One of the main reasons for food insecurity in Afghanistan is the lack of access to nutritious and affordable food. The country’s agricultural sector has been heavily impacted.
In addition, the country’s infrastructure and storage facilities for food are inadequate, leading to significant food losses and waste. Furthermore, this has exacerbated the food crisis.
Consequently, food security in Afghanistan remains a critical issue that requires urgent attention and concerted efforts from government and international community.
KSA Continuous Support to Afghanistan
Saudi Arabia has historically exerted a strong influence on Afghanistan. KSA was one of the major providers of funds to the Afghan people.
previously, Saudi Arabia has provided Afghanistan with aid worth more than $266 million, through donations and relief programs. The programs included projects focused on health, education, water and food security.
