King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) signed an agreement with the UN World Food Program (WFP) to support its operations in Ukraine.
The agreement, worth $10 million, was signed Tuesday by Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, supervisor-general of KSrelief, and Cindy McCain, the WFP’s executive director.
According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the project aims to provide food assistance through the delivery of meals to orphanages, hospitals, and displacement centers in Ukraine.
It is estimated to benefit 141,000 individuals from the most vulnerable groups affected by the dire humanitarian conditions in Ukraine.
KSrelief has extended Saudi humanitarian support to Ukraine. On March 16, the fourteenth Saudi relief plane arrived at the Polish Rzeszow Airport, located near the Ukrainian border, carrying 80 tons of relief aid supplies.
This initiative reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to alleviating the suffering of the affected and displaced populations, and promoting food security on a global scale, in cooperation with relevant UN agencies.
Since its establishment, KSrelief has executed 2,829 humanitarian projects, valued at more than $6 billion, in 98 countries. Those projects focused on critical sectors, such as food, education, health, water and sanitation, benefiting millions of people in need.
The Saudi aid agency’s activities span the globe, reaching out to distressed communities and the most vulnerable populations in crisis-hit regions.
It has gained international recognition for its efforts and dedicated support for people in need across different communities.
