KSA to Host Next World Research Council Meeting in 2025
The Council of Governors of the World Research Council unanimously agreed, in its meeting held Wednesday, that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be the main host for the annual meeting in 2025 in Riyadh city, reported Saudi Press Agency.
The Republic of Turkey, represented by the Scientific and Technological Research Council, will be a partner host.
This will be the first time for the World Research Council to be hosted in the MENA region since its establishment in 2012.
This reflects the Kingdom’s esteemed status in the fields of research, development, and innovation at the regional and global levels. This comes amid unprecedented support for the research, development, and innovation sector from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the Crown Prince.
The joint bid succeeded due to its inclusion of key competitive elements. These elements include proposing modern topics that align with global scientific movements and match the Kingdom’s ambitious aspirations.
The Council’s annual meetings represent one of the largest global forums for member research councils supporting scientific research worldwide. These meetings discuss topics of mutual interest and adopt principles that reflect the member research councils’ viewpoints. Moreover, it ratifies recommendations related to follow-up activities carried out by the member research councils in the World Research Council.
