KSA Lights Medina Streets with Technology

The Medina Development Authority has achieved a qualitative leap in using technologies in lighting projects by installing 82,192 control units for street lamps, reported Saudi Press Agency. These units are based on Internet of Things technology through the advanced LORAWAN network, covering 85% of the streets and walking plazas in Medina.

The smart street lighting project is an innovative initiative aimed at utilizing the latest emerging technologies in the field of artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and big data. The project has contributed to reducing energy costs by 30 to 45%. In addition, it saved 25 to 30% in maintenance costs and improving the speed of fault detection by 90% within a maximum of 45 seconds.

The project also contributes to increasing efficiency and reducing operational and maintenance costs. This is through leveraging artificial intelligence in data analysis and fault prediction. It reduces the need for human involvement in maintenance operations and energy consumption. The project also enhances safety and improves the quality of life in Medina by ensuring the availability of appropriate and sustainable lighting at all times. This allows for safe walking and strolling activities for everyone.

Al Jawhara Stadium

Moreover, Al Jawhara Stadium has installed new lighting system. The system included the LED technology according to the specifications of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).

This system is one of the highest categories of stadium lighting. It includes specific standards for the size and dimensions of light glow. Therefore it ensures that it does not affect the comfort of spectators in the stands. The focus is primarily on illuminating the playing field in Al Jawhara Stadium. The light was precisely directed to be balanced and uniform across the field’s surface. Consequently, there will be no distortion or excessive glare.
