Kingdom Wins International Positions at WRC23

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has unanimously won several international positions among the ITU members during the World Radiocommunication Conference “WRC23” held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Representatives of the Kingdom play executive roles in the conference proceedings by adopting decisions and reports related to the allocation of the radio spectrum on an international scale.

They also take technical and organizational measures to ensure the optimal use of frequencies allocated for space, air, maritime services, and others, to avoid radio interferences.

Key Election Results and Responsibilities

The Kingdom appointed Engineer Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Abdulqader as vice-president at the beginning of the conference.

There are two committees ; the  first one “Satellite Communications”, under Engineer Abdulrahman bin Musa Al Najdi.

The second “the Technical Applications in Aviation,” led by Engineer Saad bin Ibrahim bin Asker.

The Kingdom also assumed a major role in the Radio Spectrum Advisory Group (RAG), chaired by Engineer Mohammed bin Saad Al Janoubi.

This group manages radio sector strategies and priorities for the ITU-R and directs its study committees.

Communications, Space, Technology Authority

The Communications, Space, and Technology Authority showcased the Kingdom’s achievements as a workforce and capability milestone.

These successes reflect the international community’s trust in the Kingdom’s role and contributions to radio-communication management.”

Finally, the Kingdom’s 58-year ITU Council membership has bolstered regional and international radiocommunications cooperation. Its influence is marked by roles like chairing the Radio Regulations Board (RRB).”
