The King Fahad Industrial Port in Yanbu welcomed the ship Hoegh Sydney, carrying 1,984 cars. It is the first vehicles carrier since its establishment via transshipment. This is done through the global maritime transport service provider ‘Hoegh Autoliners’.
The arrival of Hoegh confirms the success of the Saudi Ports Authority in leveraging the capabilities and advanced services of the Kingdom’s ports. It enhances the ports’ competitiveness and develop and facilitate trade movement on both regional and international levels.
Cars are being transferred from the ship ‘Hoegh Sydney’ to the giant ship Alliance Norfolk. This reflects the port’s distinguished logistical capabilities and operational services.
The port’s strategic location overlooking the Red Sea coast, along with its ready infrastructure, has contributed to attracting global shipping lines and receiving various sizes of giant ships to meet the requirements of the maritime transport industry.
What makes King Fahad Industrial Port Stand Out?
In addition to its geographical location, the port has high operational capabilities. It has broad northern and southern harbor approach channels, and 18-meter-deep docks, allowing the accommodation of the largest ships. The port also plays a role in protecting the environment.
The maritime transport operations between it and neighboring ports help reduce pressure and congestion on land roads. Also, it reduces truck accidents, fuel consumption, and the environmental impact caused by truck exhaust.
Ships Carrying Vehicles for Dakar Rally
It is worth mentioning that the King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu recently received the ship Jolly Palladio belonging to the maritime agent Arab Co. for Navigation and Trade through the ‘Ignazio Messina’ shipping line.
