King Abdulaziz University Establishes Female Agency for Maritime Studies

King Abdulaziz University has unveiled the establishment of a new agency for female student affairs at the College of Maritime Studies to enhance women’s empowerment in Saudi Arabia, reported Saudi Gazette.

King Abdulaziz University has announced the acceptance of female admissions in maritime sector specializations for the first time, marking a fundamental breakthrough in the Saudi educational community. This milestone aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 that aims to enable Saudi women to join new professions and sectors and open new horizons to strengthen their impact and participation in the Saudi futuristic plans.

Dr. Faisal Al-Thaibani, Dean of the College of Maritime Studies, clarified that the new college will bolster the capabilities of Saudi women and employ their skills and knowledge in elevating the maritime transport sector, fostering overall efficiency and achieving sustainability.

Al-Thaibani underscored the pivotal role of the college’s strategy in offering globally recognized education and training in maritime surveying and transportation, praising its contribution to the national economy’s growth. He mentioned that the Kingdom has realized, from the very beginning, the significance of women’s participation in the maritime industry. Therefore, Saudi Arabia has been on a fast track to bridge the gap in the workplace and boost women’s contribution to the maritime sector.

Al-Thaibani elucidated that the sector has witnessed a significant breakthrough in women’s cooperation during the recent years which stands as a testament to the success of the Saudi Vision 2023. Saudi Arabia’s ambitious map seeks to increase women’s representation across various sectors, including tourism, sports, maritime transport, and logistics industry.
