King Abdul Aziz Port Achieves a New Record in March

King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam, the largest in Saudi Arabia, has achieved a new record by handling 289,787 TEUs (20-foot equivalent containers), reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

This new record underscores the distinction of its infrastructure and its capability to accommodate and handle the growing numbers of containers and to receive different sizes and types of large ships.

The Port has also achieved a record-breaking monthly throughput during 2023 and at the start of 2024.

King Abdul Aziz Port, situated on the Arab Gulf coast, is one of the essential factors driving the industrial and economic renaissance of the Kingdom. It is a reflection of Saudi Arabia’s leadership in the maritime sector, as it maximizes its transport capacity and logistics services, helping in its economy development and growth.

The port possesses key operational and logistical capabilities, including 43 fully serviced and equipped berths with a capacity of up to 105 million tons of cargo and containers.

The port boasts several specialized terminals and advanced facilities, along with modern equipment that can handle various types of cargo. Those elements align with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS), which aims to consolidate the Kingdom’s standing as a global logistics hub bridging three continents.

King Abdul Aziz Port also harbors a ship repair facility with two floating docks which accommodate ships of length up to 215 meters. The port is connected to the Riyadh Dry Port by railway, which makes it a vital channel for goods from across the world to the Eastern and Central regions.

To enhance its competitive edge, the port has unveiled four integrated logistics parks built in cooperation with key national and international players like MEDLOG, the logistics arm of the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), Abyat, United Electronics Company (eXtra), and Saudi Global Ports Company (SGP).

The range of services provided by the port to beneficiaries, including importers and exporters, has been bolstered by the addition of 12 new shipping services in 2023, and 5 new shipping lines since the beginning of 2024.
