Saudi Arabia Assumes Presidency of ALECSO until 2026

Saudi Arabia has won the presidency of the Executive Council of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) until 2026, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The official announcement was made on Friday during the 27th session of the ALECSO, held in Jeddah under the presidency of Saudi Arabia.

Thus, Saudi Arabia has become President of the Executive Council of ALECSO for the third time in a row, while the State of Qatar was elected Vice-President, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was elected as Rapporteur.

The Council members have expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the positive impacts achieved in the Executive Council during the two previous terms of Saudi Arabia’s Presidency. They commended the institutional road map drawn by Saudi Arabia to effectively engage the council with the organization’s activities and programs.

Therefore, the Kingdom could successfully convert the countries’ projects and the organization’s aspirations into reality and put them into practice.

The Chairman of the Executive Council of ALECSO, Hani bin Muqbel Al-Muqbel thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince for their continuous and unwavering support to the organization.  

Al-Muqbel also expressed his appreciation to the members of the ALECSO’s Executive Council for confidently choosing the Kingdom as President of the Council and for the promising gains achieved during the past two years and ten months. 

“Saudi Arabia is still keen to strengthen relations between the member states of the organization,” Al-Muqbel added.

Furthermore, he said that he is confident that Saudi Arabia will continue to take necessary decisions, aiming at achieving the aspirations of the Arab countries and turning their cultural, educational, and scientific projects and initiatives into reality.
