King Abdulaziz Library, RCU Forge Landmark Cultural Partnership

King Abdulaziz Public Library and the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) signed a groundbreaking a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deepen cultural cooperation. The agreement, finalized on 5th February, 2025, in Riyadh, aligns with Saudi Vision 2030’s goals to promote heritage and global cultural exchange.

Strengthening Heritage Preservation

General Supervisor Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar and RCU Acting CEO Abeer Al-Akel signed the pact. Bin Muammar stressed the agreement aligns with preserving Arab and Islamic heritage. It also safeguards the Kingdom’s diverse cultural legacy through rare manuscripts, books, and translation projects.

Al-Akel emphasized the partnership reflects integrated government efforts under Vision 2030. She highlighted leveraging the library’s archives to enhance RCU’s cultural initiatives in AlUla and surrounding regions.

Aligning with Vision 2030

The MoU fosters knowledge exchange, cultural tourism, and joint exhibitions. Key projects include bilingual publications, scientific research support, and sharing audiovisual materials on AlUla, Al-Mu’azzam, Tayma, and Khaybar.

Additionally, the partners will implement training programs and workshops to build professional skills. Community-focused efforts include literacy campaigns, mobile library tours, and the AlUla Reads initiative for families.

The collaboration underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to transforming AlUla into a global heritage hub. By merging traditional archives with modern outreach, the partnership bridges historical legacy with future-focused development.

This strategic alliance reinforces the Kingdom’s role as a leader in cultural preservation while driving sustainable tourism and education under Vision 2030.
