King Abdulaziz Camel Festival Kicks off in Al-Sayahid

The ninth King Abdulaziz Camel Festival kicked off today, Sunday, in Al-Sayahid in the southern part of Al-Dahna Desert, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA)

Themed “Pride of its People”, the festival aims basically to preserve the camel as an integral component of the Kingdom’s cultural identity.

Commenting on the event, Camel Club Chairman Fahd bin Falah bin Hathleen stated that the one-month festival stands as a testament to the Kingdom’s interest in preserving its national heritage.

Furthermore, bin Hathleen unveiled that the event will feature various cultural and heritage activities offering an unparalleled blend between authenticity and innovation.

Such events include camel beauty competitions that gained great publicity and captured visitors around the world.

Moreover, the festival features the Aqilat Museum, which offers glimpses into the Arabian Peninsula’s history.

The event also holds several exhibitions to celebrate the creativity of Saudi artisans.

Therefore, visitors can enjoy many interactive experiences such as camel riding, milking and feeding.

Interestingly, poetry has an integral part of the festival, with an amazing poetic duel anticipated to capture the largest number of enthusiasts.
