A student team from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) scooped the first place in the Student Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS 2024) Competition held in Maryland, United States, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

This remarkable success stands as a living proof of KFUPM’s dedication to improving and boosting the extraordinary talents of its student.

In 2022, the team ranked 11th in the competition and 20th in 2023.

The SUAS Competition aims at strengthening interest and passion for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) by providing the participants with a great opportunity to engage in a challenging UAS mission.

Obtaining the first place in this prestigious competition crystalizes KFUPM’s unwavering commitment to cultivating an integrated student development culture through six pillars, as follows:

  • Encouraging students to set ambitious goals

  • Immersing them in new global educational experiences
  • Engaging them with various interdisciplinary teams
  • Letting them participate in scientific research
  • Helping them build entrepreneurial skills

In 2023, KFUPM obtained the top rank in the Arab world and 101st globally according to the QS World University Rankings.
