The Fashion Commission and luxury group Kering have announced the beginning of the selection process for the winners of the Kering Generation Award X Saudi Arabia.
The award seeks to boost innovative startups and support them to leave a significant impact on the fashion industry, Arab News reported.
November 2024 marked the beginning of the application stage that invited startups to take part and submit their applications. Consequently, over 100 startups participated in this process.
Eventually, 20 startups were selected to take part in a three-day training camp in Riyadh. The program boasted workshops highlighting significant topics such as key performance indicators, goal setting and pitching skills.
Then, those 20 startups introduced final presentations on January 14.
Crucially, the evaluation process focused on customer engagement, circular economy as well as water protection. Accordingly, the jury selected the top 10 proposals and will assess them based on innovation, relevance, fashion connection, and potential impact on nature and society.
Interestingly, the awards ceremony will take place on January 27 in Riyadh to reveal the top three winning startups.
As for winners, they will have an exclusive opportunity to travel to Paris and have direct mentoring with Kering’s sustainability teams
Apart from this, they will display their innovative projects at the ChangeNOW 2025 summit.
Commenting on the occasion, Fashion Commission CEO Burak Cakmak stated that sustainability was crucial to the commission’s vision for the future of the industry.
